Last Updated: 23 March 2026 Effective Date: 23 March 2026
This Prohibited Use Policy ("Policy") is a supplemental document to the Sonaverse Terms of Service and applies to all users of the Sonaverse platform. Where this Policy conflicts with the Terms of Service, this Policy takes precedence. Capitalised terms used but not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.

1. Purpose and Scope
Sonaverse is a platform built on trust. Our Services allow real people to create AI-powered representations of themselves — reflecting their knowledge, values, and personality. That capability carries significant responsibilities. This Policy sets out in precise terms what you may not do on the Sonaverse platform, why those prohibitions exist, and the consequences of breaching them.
This Policy applies to all users of the Sonaverse platform in all capacities: as a creator, as a sona subject, as a subscriber interacting with a sona, and as a user browsing the platform without an account. It applies globally and supplements any additional legal obligations you may have under applicable law in your jurisdiction.
Prohibited conduct falls into seven categories:
- Identity and consent violations
- Harmful, deceptive, and manipulative use of sonas
- Intellectual property violations
- Personal data and privacy violations
- Technical abuse and platform integrity
- Creator Marketplace violations
- Special categories and protected persons
2. Identity and Consent Violations
The integrity of Sonaverse depends entirely on the authenticity of identity. The following conduct is strictly prohibited.
(a) Creating a sona without being the sona subject
You may not create a sona on the Sonaverse platform that represents anyone other than yourself. Every sona must be created by, and represent, the real individual who is the sona subject. The creation of a sona of another person — regardless of your relationship to them, your intentions, or the content of the sona — is not permitted on the Sonaverse self-serve platform.
This is one of the most serious violations on the platform. Any attempt to create a sona of another person will result in immediate permanent account termination and may be referred to relevant authorities.
(b) Creating a sona of a deceased person
You may not create a new sona of a person who is deceased. Existing sonas where the sona subject subsequently dies are governed by Section 5(j) of the Terms of Service. This prohibition applies regardless of whether the deceased person was a public figure, a family member, or a historical individual.
(c) Creating a sona of a minor
You may not create a sona of any person under 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in the relevant jurisdiction, if higher) in any circumstances. The sona subject must be an adult at the time the sona is created.
Any attempt to create a sona of a minor, or to use a sona in any way involving minors, will result in immediate permanent account termination, removal of all associated Content, and referral to relevant law enforcement authorities.
(d) Misrepresenting identity during registration or verification
You may not provide false, misleading, or fabricated information during account registration or identity verification. This includes impersonating another person to gain access to their sona, assuming a false identity to pass verification, or submitting forged documentation.
(e) Granting access without authorisation
You may not grant another person access to a sona at an Access Tier that the sona subject has not authorised for that person. This includes sharing login credentials to circumvent tier restrictions, granting Invitation-Only or Family tier access to individuals who do not qualify, and using technical means to override Access Tier enforcement.
3. Harmful, Deceptive, and Manipulative Use of Sonas
The conversational nature of sonas creates particular risks of harm if misused. The following conduct is prohibited, regardless of the Access Tier or the intentions of the user.
(a) Presenting Output as direct speech
You may not represent Output generated by a sona as the verified, direct, or unmediated statements of the sona subject in any context without clear and prominent disclosure that the content is AI-generated. This prohibition applies to:
- Publishing or sharing Output on social media without disclosure;
- Submitting Output as evidence in legal proceedings;
- Using Output in press releases, journalism, or publications without disclosure;
- Using Output in marketing materials to suggest the sona subject's personal endorsement of a product, service, or cause; and
- Incorporating Output into any document that could be mistaken for an original work authored by the sona subject.
(b) Using a sona for unauthorised commercial endorsement
You may not use a sona, or Output derived from it, to suggest or imply that the sona subject endorses, recommends, promotes, or is affiliated with any product, service, company, organisation, political party, cause, or individual, unless the sona subject has explicitly authorised that specific use in writing.
(c) Defamation and reputational harm
You may not use the Services or any sona to generate, distribute, or amplify content that is defamatory, libellous, or likely to cause serious harm to the reputation of the sona subject or any third party.
(d) Harassment and targeted abuse
You may not use a sona, or Output derived from it, to harass, intimidate, threaten, or abuse any person, including the sona subject themselves.
(e) Generating extremist, violent, or dangerous content
You may not use the Services to generate Output that:
- Incites, glorifies, or promotes violence or terrorism against any person or group;
- Promotes, facilitates, or constitutes hate speech or discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic;
- Provides instructions, encouragement, or assistance for the commission of any criminal act; or
- Promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions relating to self-harm or suicide.
(f) Generating sexually explicit content
You may not use the Services to generate sexually explicit or pornographic content of any kind, regardless of whether the content purports to involve real or fictional individuals. This prohibition is absolute.
Any request to configure a sona in a way designed to facilitate the generation of sexually explicit content — including through jailbreaking attempts or the upload of explicit Personal Materials — will result in immediate account termination.
(g) Psychological manipulation
You may not configure or use a sona in a way designed to psychologically manipulate users, exploit emotional vulnerabilities, create unhealthy attachment or dependency, or substitute for professional mental health support in contexts where professional support is needed. Sonas are not therapists, counsellors, or medical professionals and must not be used as such.
(h) Impersonation for fraud or deception
You may not use a sona to commit or facilitate any form of fraud, scam, financial deception, social engineering attack, phishing, or any other scheme designed to deceive a person into providing money, information, access, or any other benefit.
Use of a sona to commit or facilitate fraud is a criminal offence in most jurisdictions. Such conduct will result in immediate permanent account termination and will be reported to relevant law enforcement authorities without exception.
(i) Disinformation and synthetic media abuse
You may not use a sona or Output derived from it to create, disseminate, or amplify disinformation — meaning false or misleading information presented as factual — about any person, organisation, event, or matter of public interest. This includes using a sona to fabricate statements attributed to real individuals, to create synthetic media designed to mislead, or to interfere with democratic processes, including elections.
4. Intellectual Property Violations
(a) Uploading materials without the right to do so
You may not upload any Knowledge Material for which you do not hold, or have not obtained, all intellectual property rights necessary to grant Sonaverse the licence described in Section 5(i) of the Terms of Service. This includes uploading copyrighted works without a licence, uploading materials subject to confidentiality restrictions, and making a false rights declaration at the time of upload.
(b) Uploading prohibited document categories
You may not upload any document that falls within the outright prohibited categories set out in Section 5(e) of the Terms of Service, which include (without limitation) protected health information of third parties, legally privileged documents, classified materials, and court-confidential materials.
(c) Using the platform to circumvent licensing obligations
You may not use the Services as a means to access, reproduce, or distribute copyrighted material that you do not have a licence to use. This includes prompting a sona in a manner designed to extract large volumes of text from Knowledge Materials, circumventing our passage-length technical limits through repeated queries, or using the Services as a substitute for purchasing or licencing a work.
Our systems log retrieval activity per source document per user session. Systematic attempts to extract Knowledge Material content through repeated querying will be detected, the associated Content removed, and the account suspended.
(d) Infringing Sonaverse's intellectual property
You may not copy, scrape, reproduce, reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code, model weights, proprietary data, or any other intellectual property of the Sonaverse platform or any sona model.
(e) Misuse of the Sonaverse brand
You may not use the name "Sonaverse", the Sonaverse logo, or any confusingly similar mark in any context without our prior written permission.
5. Personal Data and Privacy Violations
(a) Uploading third-party personal data without consent
You may not upload any material containing the personal data of a third party who has not provided informed consent for their data to be ingested into a sona.
(b) Using the platform for surveillance or stalking
You may not use the Services to gather, compile, or process information about a person without their knowledge for the purpose of surveillance, stalking, tracking, monitoring, or harassment.
(c) Accessing sonas beyond your tier
You may not attempt to access information from a sona at an Access Tier for which you have not been authorised. This includes technical attempts to bypass Access Tier restrictions, prompt injection attacks designed to elicit information reserved for a more restricted tier, and social engineering of sona responses to extract private or restricted Content.
(d) Using Output to build profiles of third parties
You may not use Output generated by a sona to build unauthorised profiles of third parties, to compile dossiers on individuals without their consent, or to infer sensitive personal characteristics about any person referenced in Content who has not consented to their inclusion.
(e) Sharing restricted Output
Where you have accessed a sona at the Family or Colleague tier, you may not share, publish, distribute, or disclose Output generated from interactions at that tier to any person who does not hold equivalent or higher access, without the sona subject's express prior consent.
6. Technical Abuse and Platform Integrity
(a) Automated access and scraping
You may not access the Services using automated means — including bots, scrapers, crawlers, or automated scripts — without our prior written authorisation.
(b) API abuse
You may not use our APIs in a manner that exceeds your authorised access level, attempts to probe or exploit API endpoints beyond their intended use, circumvents rate limiting or access controls, or interferes with the availability of the Services for other users.
(c) Jailbreaking and prompt injection
You may not attempt to manipulate, override, or circumvent the content controls, system prompts, or safety measures embedded in any sona or in our underlying AI infrastructure. This includes prompt injection attacks, jailbreaking techniques, adversarial prompting designed to elicit prohibited Outputs, and the deliberate construction of inputs designed to override system-level instructions.
Attempted jailbreaking or prompt injection is logged and reviewed. Repeated or successful attempts will result in account suspension or termination.
(d) Interference with the platform
You may not transmit malware, viruses, or any malicious code to or through the Services. You may not attempt to overload, disrupt, or damage the Services or any infrastructure supporting them.
(e) Circumventing payment systems
You may not attempt to access paid features without payment, manipulate subscription records, exploit bugs or errors in our payment system, or use fraudulent payment methods. You may not initiate chargebacks or payment disputes in bad faith.
7. Creator Marketplace Violations
(a) Publishing a sona that does not represent you
Only creators who are themselves the sona subject may publish on the Creator Marketplace. Publishing a sona that represents anyone other than yourself is not permitted.
(b) False or misleading Creator Marketplace listings
You may not create a misleading listing for a sona on the Creator Marketplace, including by misrepresenting the nature of the sona, the type of access subscribers will receive, or the volume or quality of Content available.
(c) Publishing Third-Party IP Materials without commercial licences
You may not publish a paid sona that incorporates Third-Party IP Materials for which you hold only a personal or non-commercial licence. All Third-Party IP Materials incorporated in a paid sona must be licensed for commercial use before that sona is published.
(d) Revenue manipulation
You may not artificially inflate subscription counts, engagement metrics, or revenue figures associated with a sona, including through self-subscriptions, bot-driven subscriptions, or any scheme designed to misrepresent the popularity or commercial performance of a sona.
(e) Operating outside the Stripe Connect framework
All Creator Marketplace revenue must be routed through our Stripe Connect integration. You may not collect payments from subscribers directly or establish side arrangements with subscribers that circumvent our revenue-sharing framework.
8. Special Categories and Protected Persons
(a) Sonas and public figures
Any sona published on the Sonaverse platform must be of the creator themselves. Public figures wishing to create a sona of themselves are subject to the same rules as all other creators, including identity verification. The public nature of a person's role does not alter or reduce any requirement of this Policy.
(b) Sonas designed to influence political outcomes
You may not use a sona for the primary purpose of influencing any election, referendum, political campaign, or voting process, including by creating sonas that simulate political endorsements, fabricate political statements, or disseminate political disinformation.
(c) Vulnerable individuals
You may not use the Services in a manner specifically designed to target, manipulate, deceive, or exploit individuals who are or may be in a vulnerable position, including individuals experiencing mental health crises, grief, addiction, cognitive decline, financial distress, or social isolation.
If you become aware that a sona is being used by or directed at a vulnerable individual in a harmful manner, please report it immediately to support@sonaverse.ai.
(d) Sonas in medical, legal, or financial advisory contexts
You may not configure, present, or market a sona as a qualified source of medical diagnosis or treatment advice, legal advice, financial advice, or any other form of regulated professional advice, regardless of the professional qualifications of the sona subject.
9. Use by Government Entities
Use of the Services by government entities — defined as any national, regional, or local government body, public authority, law enforcement agency, intelligence service, military body, or entity acting on behalf of such an organisation — is subject to the following additional restrictions:
- Government entities may not use the Services to create sonas of individuals for the purpose of surveillance, intelligence gathering, investigation, or any form of state monitoring;
- Government entities may not use the Services to conduct psychological operations, information operations, or any programme of influence or persuasion directed at the public;
- Government entities may not use Output generated by the Services as evidence in any administrative, judicial, or law enforcement proceeding without independent verification and appropriate disclosure of the AI-generated nature of the Output; and
- Government entities wishing to use the Services for any purpose must contact us at legal@sonaverse.ai before doing so.
10. Enforcement
We apply a graduated enforcement framework. The response to any given violation will depend on its nature, severity, and context, and whether it is a first or repeat occurrence.
| Response | Typical trigger |
|---|---|
| Warning | Minor first-time violations that do not cause direct harm and are promptly corrected on request. |
| Content removal | Prohibited Content uploaded or Output generated in violation of this Policy or the Terms of Service. May be applied independently of or alongside other measures. |
| Temporary suspension | Repeated warnings, violations of medium severity, or first-time violations that cause harm to a third party. |
| Permanent account termination | Serious violations including: non-consensual sonas, sonas of minors, fraud, systematic IP infringement, platform interference, or jailbreaking. May be applied on first occurrence. |
| Legal referral | Violations that constitute or facilitate criminal conduct, including fraud, exploitation of minors, or interference with computer systems. |
| Civil action | Violations causing financial loss to Sonaverse Ltd or rights-holders, including systemic IP infringement or revenue fraud. |
We reserve the right to apply any of the above measures at any time, in any combination, and without prior notice where the urgency or severity of the violation requires immediate action.
Account termination under this Policy does not entitle you to any refund of subscription fees paid, except where required by applicable consumer protection law.
